Coaches are chosen based on their volleyball coaching experience with certain age groups. Some coaches prefer to coach younger players while others prefer the older girls. All our coaches are experienced and many have played college volleyball or coached in college, high school or middle school.
Latoya Washington, Director
14 years coaching experience - Played 4 years at FSU (Go Noles!) as starting outside hitter. After graduating, was varsity head coach at Lincoln High School. Latoya has coached with Tallahassee Jrs since its inaugural year. Latoya is married to Anthony Washington and has 3 daughters.
Jose Morales, Phd., Director
25+ years of coaching experience. Started coaching the youth divisions in Puerto Rico, including the Puerto Rican National teams. Has been coaching in Wakulla and Leon counties for 15+ years and was instrumental in the merger of TVA and Tallahassee Select which became Tallahassee Jrs. Was TJVBC's first Director. Jose is currently retired from coaching high school volleyball.
Jennifer Abbott
Coach Jenn Abbott was born and raised in Ocala, FL, where she played 4 years for St. John Lutheran's varsity volleyball team. She continued her volleyball career at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA before moving to Tallahassee to complete her degree at Florida State University. Jenn has over 10 years of playing experience and has coached club ball for Marion County Juniors in Ocala and for TJVBC. She has also coached the past three years at Chiles High School as the JV Black coach.
Amber Annand
Amber has played volleyball since she was in the 6th grade. She also played club for several years and played college volleyball at St. Johns River Community College. She is currently the Head JV coach for Wakulla High School and is pursuing a nursing career. Amber is thrilled to be a part of the Tallahassee Jrs family.
Joy Becker
Joy graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Physical Education and Coaching. Her high school teams have earned one State Volleyball Championship, 5 very hard-fought State Runner-Up titles, and have been in the Final-Four ten other times. Joy has numerous All Big-Bend Coach of the Year Honors, was named USAV Florida Region Coach of the Year and she is in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Joy has coached the Florida High School All-Star Match three times and will do it again this year. Joy was a Club director for almost twenty years and has served on the Board of several others. She is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association where she holds the position of Southeastern Representative for All-American Selection. Joy retired from high school head coaching in 2009, but the thrill of teaching the game of volleyball to young girls and watching them grow into fantastic people and players will never go away. Joy has been married to her husband Bob for 35 years. She has two daughters, Cari and Jill, and two grand-daughters, Callahan and Finley!
Marisela Brown
Marisela is in her second year as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Leon. Marisela has coached club volleyball for several years. Prior to coming to Leon, she coached at Florida High for two seasons. She was given the opportunity to join the Leon volleyball program, and is now very proud and privileged to be at Coach Strickland's side as an assistant coach. Go Lions!

Kaitlin DiLuzio
A native of Tallahassee, Coach DiLuzio lettered 4 years on the varsity volleyball team at Chiles HS. She continued her volleyball career as a scholarship player at Florida Community College in Jacksonville. She coached multiple travel teams with TJVBC and is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Chiles HS.
Jill Fidrych
Jill started playing competitive volleyball at the age of 8! Her team made it to Nationals twice during her club volleyball years. She also played on the Varsity Volleyball team for Leon High School, where she was Captain her senior year.
Jill made 1st team All-Big Bend, played in the State All-Tournament Team match and received the 5A Dairy Farmer's Player of the year award.
Jill has coached 14 and Unders in club volleyball as well as at the middle school level.
Patricia Lira Figueiredo
Patricia started her volleyball collegiate career at Missouri State University where she was selected to the All-American team. She joined FSU as a junior where she averages 4.76 assists per game and third on the team in aces. She is majoring in Applied Economics at FSU.
Sareea Freeman
Sareea Freeman is ready for a breakout year in which she could start several matches at middle blocker. She has tremendous athleticism that helps her put down balls and block as well. Sareea progresses with each and every year. She was one of four Seminoles to compete at the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team open tryouts in Feb. 2011
Jose Freundt
Coach Jose has 20+ years of playing experience and was fundamental in bringing high school boys volleyball to the state of Florida. He has been coaching Volleyball for 10+ years, with clubs such as Miami Elite, TVA and has been coaching at TJVBC since it's inaugural year. He is also the director to TJVBC's newly established Adult Division.
Greg Garrett
4 years coaching experience - has actively played volleyball for the past 16 years. Originally from southwest Florida Greg regularly competes on the Florida Beach Volleyball, Dig the Beach, and other 2-man volleyball circuits around the state.
Michelle Gentry
She attends Florida State University and is a member of their club volleyball team. She has played volleyball for 8 years and is playing her last 2 years on a full ride at Polk State College. Michelle received Honorable Mention her freshman year and First Team All County her sophomore year, along with Academic Athlete of the year. She was the captain of the volleyball team at PSC. She also was captain of her varsity volleyball team her senior year at Palm Harbor University High School. She formerly coached with Impact Volleyball Academy in Winter Haven and is looking forward to coaching with Tallahassee Jrs.
Skip Greenfield
Began playing beach volleyball 25 years ago locally and in the Destin, Ft. Walton area. Played many years of indoor ball at TPRD and coached 4 years of girls youth volleyball for the city. Has coached various teams with Jrs. and for the clubs clinics and camps. Met his wife, Jane, while playing volleyball and has 2 children and 2 dogs.
Nina Gun-Hall
Coach Hall is a native to Tallahassee and loves the game as much today as she did playing in high school. She is married to Coach Jamie Hall and they have five kids together. She is currently the Middle School Volleyball Coach at North Florida Christian School.
Teddy Hayduk
Teddy is a recent graduate of The Florida State University. He began playing beach and indoor volleyball at the age of 13. He went on to compete with Club Florida Volleyball out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL as well as his middle school and high school teams. He played on the varsity team all four of his years at Marjory Stoneman Douglas H.S., leading his team to the Class 6A Regional and State Tournament his last two years, respectively. In addition, he competed actively on the Florida Beach Volleyball circuit.
Joe Herrera
Joe Herrera is married to Kristina Herrera and has 2 kids Emily and Joey. Joe is currently the Varsity Head Coach at North Florida Christian school. He has 10 plus years of coaching experience with 4 years of club coaching experience.
Haley Herritt
Haley is in her third year on the Leon Volleyball staff. In 2011, she will be the Junior Varsity Assistant Coach. Haley is a graduate of Florida State University, with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. During her college days, she served as the President of the Seminole Student Booster Club. Originally from West Palm Beach where she was a four year starter on the Palm Beach Gardens High School team, she also played for a south Florida club team her junior year.
Mary Beth Ingram
Mary Beth has played volleyball for 10 years starting at the city level, then club, middle school, Chiles and earned a scholarship to Augusta State University. She left Augusta after one year due to a knee injury. She started coaching at Deerlake Middle School and in her first year, Deerlake went undefeated and won the championship!! She also works with the Champions program at Titus. Mary Beth was a setter, and was on the Varsity team at Chiles for 3 years, captain her Senior year, and was on the All Big Bend Team!
Emily Kohler
Emily joined the Leon staff in 2011 as a Varsity Assistant Coach. Emily graduated from Florida High in 2003, where she was a four-year varsity player. She then moved on to the University of North Florida, where she lettered four years in Volleyball and three years in Track and Field. She went on to play professional volleyball in Switzerland. Emily served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Robert F. Munroe in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Emily has coached club volleyball for 5 years.
Karen Leach
Karen Leach is new to the TJVBC family. She has been teaching for five years at Augusta Raa Middle School and is the Raa Rams volleyball coach. This year the Rams made it all the way to the championship and received 2nd place in their division. At Raa she teaches 6th grade World Cultures and Geography to the Gifted and Talented population.
Rick Lopez
Rick has been involved in recreational indoor and Beach Volleyball as a player and official since 1987. He received CAP 1 coaching certification in 1998. Rick helped establish the original Tallahassee Jrs. in 1999 which later morphed into the Tallahassee Volleyball Assn. (TVA). He also served as TVA local Division Director in 2003 and the TVA Club Director in 2005-2007. He has coaching experience w/club & recreational players aged 12-17.

Carol Mosteller
Carol has been coaching volleyball at the high school level for 6 years as both head and assistant coach. She has also coached club volleyball for 4 years. Carol is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Godby High School.
Jessica Mullenix
Jessica has been playing volleyball since 7th grade. She began reffing in 2007 for HS (in Jacksonville) and Club in 2009. She ia a PAVO certified scorekeeper and Line Judge and have been line judging for FSU & FAMU since 2008. Jessica will be working with the younger players as she develops her coaching skills. She is happy to have been given an opportunity to coach the game she has loved for so long.
Sally Nobles
Sally played high school for Latoya Washington at Lincoln as a setter and middle. She is the current Records holder in kills, aces and blocks. She was selected as All Big Bend Player of the Year in 2001. Sally played club with TVA before it was Tallahassee Jrs. She played college volleyball at University of North Florida from 2002 - 2006 as a Right side. Sally has coached several age groups. She was the former varsity assistant at Munroe High School in 2010. She is currently the Head JV coach at Lincoln High School.
Chelsea Pennick
Chelsea Pennick is from Jacksonville, FL by way of Orlando where she graduated high school. She played volleyball for Florida A&M University (FAMU) for 3 years until a knee injury. Chelsea is in her 4th year coaching volleyball, and was the JV Head Coach at Florida High this year, where she had 3 of her JV players move up to varsity. She is deicated to educating the girls not only on the court, but also off the court. Love coaching the girls and watching them grow.
Rob Powell
Coach Powell has over 20 years of playing experience and has been coaching youth girls volleyball and youth boys baseball for the last 3 years. His playing experience includes both indoor and sand league play and 4/6 man tournaments primarily in Florida. He considers it a good week if he can get in the sand at least once and a great week if he gets to play twice. Coach Powell is married and has 2 children and 2 cats.
Alison Pridgeon
Alison returns for her second year as Head Junior Varsity Coach at Leon. Alison is a 2007 graduate of Leon High School. She was a member of the Leon Varsity team that was the first to advance to the State Final Four. After graduation, Alison played volleyball for one year at Indian River Community College. She has since transferred back to Tallahassee and is attending Tallahassee Community College.
Alina Ramos
Coach Ramos has over 20 years of playing experience and 7 years of coaching experience. She has coached for AAA Volleyball Club, Tallahassee Volleyball Association (TVA), Trinity Middle School, JPII High School, Florida High, and recently joined the Tallahassee Juniors family. She continues to compete in both indoor and beach volleyball tournaments around the state and is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Florida High.
Larry Sparkman
Coach Sparkman played for the FSU Volleyball Club in the late 70's, and has been a club director and coach in Tallahassee since 1994. He was the Head Coach at John Paul II Catholic HS from 2004 - 2010, where his teams won the Region Championship and finished as 1A State Runner-up in 2009. Coach Sparkman was also voted the All Big Bend Coach of the Year in 2009 - 2010. He is a CAP II level certified volleyball coach. He is currently the Head Varsity Coach at the Florida State University High School, referred to as Florida High.
Angie Strickland
Angie Strickland is the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach this year at Leon High School. While working on her Ph.D. degree she headed to Lincoln to become the Head Volleyball Coach. She graduated in 2004 with her Ph.D. in Physical Education and accepted a Physical Education teaching position at Lincoln, remaining there through the 2006-2007 school year.
After taking a year off of coaching in 2007, Coach Strickland rejoined the Leon volleyball program, serving in 2008 and 2009 as a Varsity assistant coach under Joy Becker. After two trips to the State Final Four and Joy Becker retiring in 2009, Angie Strickland was hired as the new Head Coach at Leon, with some big shoes to fill. Coach Strickland is currently working with the Northern Florida Bankruptcy Trustee.
Bucky Thompson
In a galaxy far, far away, when in his prime, Bucky played on the Eglin AFB men's club volleyball team. He played several times in the Florida Sunshine games. Traveled the southeast playing beach volleyball for many years, then became old and relegated himself to hosting tournaments and coaching city and club volleyball in Jacksonville and Tallahassee. Bucky was a part of the original TVA and Tallahassee Select merger and served as Tallahassee JRs first president.
Anthony Washington
Coach Washington is a former track and field multiple all ACC and all-american qualifier at FSU University. Almost 20 yrs later Anthony is the only man in FSU history to jump 7 feet in the high jump and over 50 feet in the triple jump. Anthony uses his experience in plyometrics, speed improvement and strength and conditioning to prepare our girls to compete at the highest physical and mental level possible.
Courtney Zuber
Coach Courtney is the sister of Sara and is a defensive specialist and libero for the FSU Volleyball team (#11). She was the 2007 All Big Bend Player of the year. She played high school volleyball at Leon HS and this is her second year with TJVBC.
